Description
THE DUERO VALLEY AND MADRID
The Duero River rises in the Picos de Urbión, in the heart of Spain, and flows through majestic landscapes before reaching the Atlantic Ocean in the Portuguese city of Porto. Along its course, it has carved the impressive Duero Valley, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
This unique setting, with vineyards winding along steep hillsides and charming traditional estates known as quintas, offers a landscape of incomparable beauty. Sailing along the Duero means immersing yourself in one of Europe’s most authentic and unspoiled regions — home to the world’s oldest demarcated wine region: the Porto wine region.

Discover the vibrant city of Porto, with its historic center, the Ribeira, and its iconic Port wine cellars. Panoramic tour of Porto (minimum group: 10 passengers). Overnight stay in the town. |
|
Day 3 | PORTO / RÉGUA Full board on board. At the first light of dawn, we depart from Porto heading to Régua, where we will arrive after lunch. Régua, known as the wine capital of the Douro, is an essential destination for those wishing to explore the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town lies in an impressive natural amphitheater formed by steep slate hills with terraced vineyards carved into the rock and serves as the ideal starting point to discover the world’s oldest demarcated wine region, regulated since 1756. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Pinhão, a town considered the center of the Douro Region with Designation of Origin, where many of the estates producing Port wine are located, some of which offer accommodation as rural tourism. A unique feature of this route is that the rails and sleepers are laid just a few meters from the river’s edge. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the pier of Vega de Terrón, located where the Águeda River flows into the Douro. The old border landing was converted into a river pier at the end of the 19th century and was rebuilt at the end of the 20th century for tourist and commercial purposes. The pier belongs to the municipality of La Fregeneda in the province of Salamanca and is situated in the area of greatest tourist interest, known as the Arribes del Duero Natural Park.
